After matching with Providence Portland for Residency, we were so excited to hunt for housing. Since we were moving out of the Seattle (expensive) area, to Portland (not so expensive) area, we knew owning a home was going to be affordable. We spent two weekends looking for houses. House hunting with a six month old was quite the experience, but Kyla was so good. Us parents were the fussy ones. Twenty houses later, and two second looks, we found our little home! Rachel's parents joined us for the hunt (Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!). With the extra babysitter and interior designer (Emmy) along with the professional inspector (Papi), we settled in our minds and hearts that this was the place we wanted to be. We sat down with our amazing Real Estate Agent, wrote out an agreement, and two days later had mutual acceptance. This last weekend we finished the inspections and all went smoothly. Now we await the arrival of May 14th, and the keys will be ours. It has all moved fast, but there is such a peace when you know this is the place God has for you.
Our home is small but has great character and lots of remodel potential. It sits on a 1/5 acre lot with views of Mt. St. Helens from out living room, and Mt. Hood from across the street. The yard has a swing set for Kyla to play on as she gets older, and fenced in for safety. We cannot stop our minds from thinking of all the landscaping and cosmetic changes that we want to add to our place. We will make sure to include before and after pictures of our projects. Stay tuned...
